Undergraduate student at USC, interesting in understanding more about Russian culture and tradition. I have traveled there. I am studying International Relations, and the Russian language. I am interested in making contact with Russian students. Thank you!
CCSI responds:
We're glad that our site is becoming a meeting place for people of different nations. But might I also suggest a few things you can do? The Pen Pal section of the site provides links to dozens of organizations that provide e-mail and snail mail penpals to people of all ages. The International Organizations: Education, Culture and Exchange provides information on cultural and educational exchanges, sister city programs and other culture and exchange groups which may allow you a way to become more involved with the Russian language and culture. Finally, don't forget the newgroups. The Russian-language newsgroup (which operate on KOI-8 fonts) would be a great place to start. There is the relcom.penpals and relcom.education newsgroups.
The Russian MBA Association web page (http://www.serve.com/mbafsu) does not seem to work. Has it ceased to exist or moved somewhere? Any information is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
CCSI responds:
Thanks for the "heads up", Pavel. We checked the link recently, so this is a new development. We have heard nothing about the organization closing, so we are hoping their site will be back on-line soon. I have removed the Web site links and sent a message to the organization. Hopefully they have simply moved their site to a new server. If we find a new Web site, we will put links back in.

Hello, I am going to ask for help. I am thinking of starting a non-profit organization in Belarus (or maybe in Russia). And I am looking for any relevant information, starting from the very basics. This kind of information seems to be very difficult to find. If anybody can help me with that, please do so.
Thank you.
I also want to thank folks who made it possible for my message to appear here.
CCSI responds:
Sergey also sent his message directly to us in an e-mail message which we posted on our listserv. Since it was posted on January 12, he has already received a few responses. If you have a message you think might be appropriate for our listserv, send it directly us at [email protected] and include a short request that it be posted to the listserv.

Great Idea! As we have registered the American Romanian Foundation, I would be interested in connecting with Romanian citizens, responsible ones committed to strenghten civil society in the country. Therefore, this is a networking attempt in order to create community foundations in the regions of Transylvania, travel opportunities to Romania, and other cultural activities. My email is [email protected] , AmROM CEO

Dear friends,
I would like to keep in touch with the
journalists from Georgia.
I'm trying to find Tengiz Gamkrelidze
who was an observer on international
items at Zaria Vostoka newspaper
in Tbilisi for many years.
Could you please send me the address
or a phone/fax # of Zaria Vostoka
newspaper ?
Thank you very much,
Irene Timofeyeva
CCSI responds:
We are always happy to receive any comments, suggestions and requests from our visitors. But, we should emphasize that we do upload all of the information we have available. Chances are that if doesn't appear on the site, we do not have it. The best we can do is recommend somewhere to find the information. If you are looking for a phone number or contact for a newspaper in Georgia, I would suggest trying the organizations we have under our NIS Organizations: Media section. Under Georgia, there are two journalism associations. One of them, Journalists International Press-Club "Forte", has an e-mail, phone and fax number which you may be able to contact them directly and request information on the newspaper or the journalist.
I enjoyed visiting your site and seeing the photos of Moscow and Nizhni Novgorod, it brought back some great memories of these places and other cities I was lucky enough to visit in 95 and 96.
CCSI responds:
Glad to hear it! Those who would like to view the photos of CCSI's October 1997 trip to Moscow, Ekaterinburg and Nizhnii Novgorod can do so. Please feel free to leave your comments on the guestbook too.
In your Nizhni Novgorod page you frequently refer to the city topography and mention various locations in the city.
Would you like to add to that document a link to a small city map I have scanned out? It is at http://www.cs.indiana.edu/hyplan/vmenkov/maps/nnov.html
CCSI responds:
Thanks for the offer, Vladimir! CCSI recently added a tour of the three cities we visited on a trip to Russia in October 1997. We have posted personal photos of the cities of Moscow, Ekaterinburg and Nizhnii Novgorod. Due to your suggestion, we are adding links to maps of each city. Vladimir's site has maps of Nizhnii Novgorod's transportation system, subway and commuter rail. We are also working on finding small, easy-to-load maps for those with lower bandwith.
Do you know of organisations which work with needy children in Moscow or St. Pete? A British woman will be visiting Moscow and St. Pete at the end of Feb. and would like to donate a suitcase of hand-knitted blankets and baby clothes. Thank you.
CCSI responds:
Your friend should also contact BEARR Trust in London which acts as an information clearinghouse, similar to CCSI, for British organizations active in Eurasia
Kristin, we have a couple of ideas for you:
