The BEARR Trust is a British registered charity. It was formed in 1991 to act as a bridge between the welfare and health sectors of Britain and the former Soviet Union (FSU). Its four main aims are:
- To collaborate with British organisations working with the voluntary, social welfare and health sectors in the FSU, particularly in order to provide information and advice
- To be a clearing house for information about British activities in the FSU and, where appropriate, to make this information public
- To bring British and FSU organisations together for the transfer of information, skills and material aid
- To initate projects that will strengthen the FSU's voluntary, social welfare and health sectors
The Trust publishes a quarterly newsletter covering the work of British NGOs in the former Soviet Union. Contained in its 16 pages are articles on topics such as social welfare, human rights, migration, education and training. It also features a popular section on funding opportunities for British-Russian NGO partnerships. An annual subscription costs 20 pounds sterling quotes can be requested for subscriptions outside the United Kingdom. For more information on how to subscribe to the newsletter, or for more information on the Trust itself, please contact BEARR at the address given above.
