The Georgian Press-Club "Forte" was registered in 1996. They describe their primary goals as follows: to promote professional and business relations between Georgian and foreign media organization; to support the development of independent mass-media and "open informational space" in the region; to provide professional training for journalists by organizing seminars and workshops; to cooperate with local and foreign mass-media organizations in efforts to print, broadcast, and distribute information; to participate in joint projects aimed at forming a modern and democratic society in Georgia; to represent the constitutional rights of local journalists; to achieve high standards in mass-media functions which guarantee free and timely access to objective and full information; and to maintain the basis for integration into an international information system. To meet these ends the Press-Club seeks to establish cooperative relationships with other organizations abroad.
