Krasnodar Regional Community Foundation "Resource Center" (KRC) is a non-profit, public service, educational infrastructure organization formed by six key trainers of SRRC-CIP program in February 1997. Key specialists of KRC in legal issues, finance management and taxation, fundraising and grantsmanship, social marketing, mass media, advocacy and computer competence are dedicating their efforts, knowledge and experience to promotion of the ideals of civic society and economic reform in Russia through support of non-profit organizations. Its mission is to support and facilitate the development of the public sector for democratization and economic growth in Russia.

NGOs are vital to building a civil democratic society. They allow citizens to create associations for self-support, to supply voluntary help to society's most vulnerable groups, and to advocate citizens' interests and rights on both the local and federal level. They are critical to conversion of Russia from an autocratic to a democratic society. There are more than 3,000 NGOs in Southern Russia, that struggle to survive despite:

• lack of financial support and sustainability
• incomplete knowledge of laws, especially related to NGO sector
• inadequate skills in management, social marketing, fundraising, computer competence, advocacy
• poor networking with local and international NGOs
• weakly developed connections with local legislature and government
• poor communication and public relations skills
• lack of experience in recruiting and working with volunteers
• insufficient information about Russian and international non-profits, their activities
• no effective system for professional development of NGO staff.

KRC is the unique team of professionals, proven to be competent and experienced implementers of Civic Initiatives Program in Southern Russia in 1995-97. This group is dedicated to its work and is capable of answering the needs these NGOs face in their activities.
