A room without books is like a body without a soul. - Cicero
Welcome to our new literature server developed by "Friends and Partners". The server was announced in early January 2001.
This is one of the biggest in Russia server with search opportunity maintains Russian and English languages. It was developed carefully taking into account that not only Russia and NIS users but users all over the world will visit it. That fact will allow world community to make acquaintance with Russian culture, history, traditions and customs.
By present time the total number of published poems at our server is close to 19 132 and we are going to increase it weekly.
"Russian Literature of 19-th Century" includes about 6500 works of more than 29 brilliant poets. Some of poems have translations to English.
Just now in "Russian Literature of 19-th Century" and "Russian Literature of 20-th Century" sections of our server you can find brief bibliographical information about 56 poets and different works (original and translated) of various literature genres lyrical poems, ballads, epigrams, fairy tales, fables, Russian epics, comedies, stories in verses. We tried to use mainly collected works of poets. We publish translation to English of some poems of Tutchev, Lermontov, Pushkin, Pasternak, Blok, Bunin, Akhmatova, Mayakovskiy.
We want your work to be comfortable and nice in our library. An advanced search gives the opportunity to find the required information very quickly using the name of author or the date of publication or the title or even the one word. Each page of our server is provided by aphorism that makes your literature voyage more interesting.
The first step in our work was the poetry of 19-th and 20-th century. This choice was not casual. This period poetic heritage in Russian literature is our history, our spiritual property and pride. Besides Russian classical authors we want to introduce you the works of little known and seldom published poets such as A. Zhemchuzhnikov, A. Koltsov, L. Mey, Eu. Grebyonka, Eu. Rastopchina, K.Pavlova, M. Voloshin, Z. Gippius, D. Merezhkovsky, M.Zenkevich, etc.
At any time the poets all over the world wrote poems for children, they addressed to next generation with own words. Now we open a new section at our server, "Literature for children". Hope it will be interesting both in content and design.
In future we plan to open new sections: "Literature of the Forties", "Literature of the Sixties" and to add publications to "Literature of 20-th Century" section and "Biographies" section.
