The Vaslui County

Having a surface of 5, 297 sq.km and a population of 456,180 inhabitants, the Vaslui county is situated in the central-Eastern part of the Moldavia's Plateau.

It is crossed by the Prut and Barlad Rivers and their tributaries.

The climate is a temperate continental one offering good conditions for agriculture.

The archaeological researches highlight that in this county there are a lot of vestiges as early as the Palaeolithic. The historical documents show the developement of handcraft activities, the old inhabitants dealt with pottery (Barlad, Oltenesti, Malusteni, Carja) and later in furrier's trade and agriculture. We have to mention the vine which is still a tradition in the famous viyeards from Husi. The fame of so-called Busuioaca de Bohotin (a rose wine) is known home and abroad too. Of a great importance is now the fruit tree growing (the surface of orchards, quality and productivity of varieties).

The town of Vaslui, the capital city of this county, waits for its tourists at the ruines of the Princely Palace and the Sf. loan Baptizer Church, both being built by Stefan eel Mare. In other two towns Barlad and Husi there are churches from the XVI - XVII-th century.

To South from Vaslui there is the historic place named Podul Inalt and where in 1475, Stefan eel Mare defeated the Turkish army of Suleiman Pasha.

For tourists there are five hotels, one inn and four tourist stops which offer the famous Moldavian food.
