I am a consultant in organizational governance: creating and supporting boards of directors and trustees that can add real value to an organization. A good governing board can make a real difference, except there is little training and study of governance at any graduate school of business in the U.S.

If I can ever be of service to a group or organization, please drop me a note. My clients include publicly-traded companies' private, closely-held businesses; nonprofits; partnerships; foundations; and, trusts.

joseph pecevich merry christmas and happy new year! Tue Dec 23 15:13:23 EST 1997

nothing else to say except that we are watching and listening for every bit of news from belarus and hoping for the earliest possible end to luka's war against the long-suffering belarusian people. however obviously many continue to find more comfort and predictability of life sitting in the bottom of a mud-hole than risking a better life for themselves and their families by expressing their outrage at a merciless self centered apparatchik. my great grandparents sent their kids to the u.s. in the hope that they could make a better life for themselves and maybe help by sending a few bucks back. what's up with the current older generation over there???

CCSI responds:
Our best Belarus information can be found in NIS Organizations: Belarus which lists nonprofit organization operating in Belarus. We also have information under Electronic Resources: Region Specific. Note that there is information on Belarus under both Links:Belarus and Listservs:Belarus for the latest news.

CCSI responds:
While CCSI only lists nonprofit organizations on this site, we include nonprofit organizations that promote business development. The International Organizations: Business contains information on US, Canadian and European sponsored programs to promote business in the NIS, and other projects to promote productivity, training, and technical assistance. The groups can provide partners, funding or training and be invaluable to business development. There are a variety of publications listed in the Print Resources: Business section which provide everything from textbooks on the basics, to detailed research on the latest economic and legal news. And don't miss the Electronic Resources: Business section. Under "Directories" there is a directory of E-mail addresses for US Graduate Business Schools which would serve as a great source for alerting students of your availability as a testcase.

I am interested in the drinking water situation in Khabarovsk and the pollution of the Amur River. This has been a very usefull site. Keep up the good work. Bright Skies :)

CCSI responds:
Thanks! For those who are wondering... Where would I find that information on this site? Try this: Start with Electronic Resources: Environment. This section contains links to environmental databases where you could search for this information. This section also contains the names of umbrella organizations that would know of organizations in Khabarovsk, and lists newsgroups where you could post the question to people who specialize in NIS environmental issues. Also try NIS Organizations: Environment where you can search through environmental organization by country, or search NIS Organizations: Russia East of the Urals where you can search the same organizations by city. [ Under Khabarovsk, I turned up Institute for Water and Ecological Problems. (They even have an e-mail address!) and Khingan Nature Reserve works in protection of wetlands.] Finally, Print Resources: Environment contains information on The Green Bibliography which contains information on over 300 periodical publications on environmental issues in Northern Eurasia. There may be a newspaper on specifically this topic! Finally, don't forget to visit the International Organizations: Environment on organizations that are based in the US and around the world with projects in Russia. They can be a quick and reliable source of information on the latest and best projects on water pollution in specific regions.
