Be sure to check out the Pen Pal page. This section provides a list of organizations which will help people find a pen pal. Most organizations will help you find someone in the same age, with similar interests and language levels.
Id like to get in touch with cultural exchange programs
CCSI responds:
"Education, Culture and Exchange" is one of the categories we have under the Electronic, Print, International Organizations and NIS-based Organizations sections. I suggest you start with Electronic resources: Education, Culture and Exchange. This section will list the resources available on the Internet and through electronic mailing lists. There are also a number of exchange organizations under International Organizations in the NIS: Education, Culture and Exchange. Both sections should give you many places to start your search.
I'm a Canadian-Hungarian dual citizen who would be interested in moving to Petropavlovsk as soon as possible. I would be willing to work with pretty much any NGO in the area (I've worked here in Canada with several in the past). But I would like to leave as soon as possible so I would need help getting a visa. The reason I've chosen the town in question is because on a previous trip to the region, I met someone there I would like to live with (to get an invitation through the Ovir is problematic because she's lacking in funds). Now I'm looking for anything to get me there as soon as possible. Any help would be very much appreciated, Mark Fodor.
Your web-page has been a God-send! What a fantastic resource! I hope to be relocating to London this fall, and would like to find British/Russian employment opportunities. Any ideas? I have business experience in Moscow, but I'm also very interested in non-profit projects. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, Kristin Hayden
CCSI responds:
Our Announcements section is continually updated with all of the job opportunities we receive. We have an additional section for those seeking jobs under the Job Search Resources section. While I don't know of any immediate job openings in the non-profit sector in London, you may wish to browse through the "International Third Sector Organizations" section. A British flag will mark the organizations that are based in England. One of the best know British organizations active in the NIS is the British Know How Fund.
We are looking for Russians who may be interested in starting a business in Russia. Please e-mail if you are interested. We are anxious to help other countries/people experience free enterprise.
God Bless.
CCSI responds:
There are numerous organizations including US and Russian Chambers of Commerce and programs sponsored by the US government which aid development or expansion of business in Russia. Many of these organizations are available under the Electronic Resources: Business section of the Web site.
I'm working on a doctorate in social work--my research is related to prevention of serious aggression in children and adolescents. I'm also interested in international issues, such as how to support non-violent alternatives to warfare in places such as Bosnia. I speak a little Serbo-Croat and fairly good German and would like to hear from others.
I have a friend that is an exchange student from Krasnodar and I would like to learn more about that region.
CCSI responds:
While we have not yet found any Web sites dedicated to the history and culture of Krasnodar, there are a few organizations listed under the "NIS Organizations: Russia West of the Urals" section of the Web site which you may wish to contact. The Association of Young Journalists may have people interested in beginning a correspondence. The National Cultures Center located in Krasnodar also has an e-mail address which may make correspondence even easier. But first, be sure to check out Krasnodar Regional Community Foundation "Resource Center." They are developing a web site. Although still under construction, it may be able to provide you with the kind of information you seek.
