I was a Russian linguist in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Now I teach English as a Second Language, but still have a love for things Russian. My wife is half Russian/half Dutch, and we both have MA's in Russian. It would be good if this were a way to stay connected to Russia.

I am a Undergrad at the University of nevada Reno, and I have found that the CCSI Homepage has been a great tool for my recent trip to Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and other Baltic areas of research. I am currently working on a Paper regarding Civil Society in the Baltics and thank the lord for the CCSI Project being there for references and conversations with others doing research in this area.

Greetings to all those interested in things Slavic!! I am a dual major in Slavic languages and Eastern European History at McGill University in Montreal, and will soon (too soon, I fear) be cast into the job market. If you kind browsers could suggest to me any internet or (God forbid) real-live contacts in the area of economic or social cooperation towards expanding markets for an energetic, multilingual person, please write me.

CCSI responds:
Those in the job market looking for positions in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe or searching for positions in organizations that work in that region should visit the Job Search Resources section of the CCSI Web site. It has links to other Web sites, listservs and publications which would be important to your job search. The other important job search resource on our site is the Announcement page. It contains announcements of time sensitive information like conferences, grant opportunities and job and internship announcements.

My husband is an engineer and I am a surgeon. We are looking for an opportunity to serve overseas, either in NIS or elsewhere. If you know of an organization which could use our skills, please let us know. Thank you.

CCSI responds:
There are a few programs to accomadate people with certain expertise who wish to share it in the former Soviet states. International Executive Service Corps places volunteer American executives in over 90 countries around the world. There are also numerous medical organizations where medical personnel can volunteer their services around the world. Operation Smile has programs in Russia. Project Hope provides health education, health policy research and humanitarian assistance. You can receive more information from their on-line Volunteer Request Form.
