Voronezh Civic Networking

Organizational activity

The project officers continued the works under the agreement with Voronezh
State Television/ Radio Company on series of regular radio programs communicating
the project "Voronezh Civic Network" activities to the public.
Two new programs of the series, prepared by the project officers, went
on the
air in August.

The presentation of the center of public access point at the Regional Educational
Advising Center at Committee on Youth Affairs of the city of Voronezh took
place in August (http://www.vreac.org.ru).
On the 5th - 6th of August the project officers of the Regional Educational
Advising Center carried out the informational-practical seminar for the
representatives of regional educational centers (http://www.vreac.org.ru/rus/news.html).
 
The following reports were made at the seminar : applying to American
Universities, participation in exchange programs, educational system of
USA, activities of independent information centers. The report "Volunteer
coordination at Voronezh Regional Educational Advising Center" was also
sounded at the seminar.
The representatives of the educational advising centers of Omsk, Yaroslavl,
Volgograd, Kursk, Vinnitsa (Ukraine), Perm took part in the seminar.
Steven Mackey, the representative of the International Research and
Exchange Board (IREX) coordinated the work of the seminar.

The project officers carried out a meeting with Methodist Church and regional
department of "Armii Spasenia" which united organizations of disabled people,
and citizens having some complex diseases.
Formation of the informational -technical infrastructure

* The preparatory works for allocating and lining of the allocated channel
to the office building of the Regional Educational Advising Center at Committee
on Youth Affairs of the city of Voronezh continued in August.
At present, the Regional Educational Advising Center is connected to
the network through the lines of non-switchable access in a dial-up mode.

Collection and processing of materials for the server "Voronezh Civic Network"
(vcn.vorstu.ac.ru) continued in August.
The section "Bodies of Authority and Management", consisting of following
units: "Administration of the City", "Administration of Voronezh region",
"Projects and Initiatives" was complemented. The unit "Projects and Initiatives"
was weekly updated and added to.
Such sections as "Regional news", "Regional media publications", "
News of public life", "The bulletin board" were updated daily.
Two personal pages were put together.
The new page "It is interesting" was placed in the section "Regional
news".
Central Public Access Center activities

This month, as well as during all previous months, the full range of our
services within the framework of the project has been provided to our visitors
free of charge. Consulting service and web workshop at the Central Public
Access Center facility continued to function.

Two group training sessions, each consisting of 13 persons were also scheduled
and held in August.
