Organizational activity

  • In order to strengthen the project's advertising campaign, the project officers continued the works under the agreement with Voronezh State Television/ Radio Company on series of regular radio programs communicating the project "Voronezh Civic Network" activities to the public.

  • On the 4th and 25th of June, two new programs of the series, prepared by the project officers, went on the air. The programs informed local communities of the status of works on the project.
    The radio programs brought us many new visitors, whom we can offer the real help. Among them is Regional Juvenile School of Adaptive Special Physical Education of Invalids. Specially for this school, the project officers have prepared the information on foundations and institutions, providing charitable help to organizations, working in this field. Project officers are providing consultations on grant writing.
    Besides, like other project participants, this organization now has its own page on the server "Voronezh Civic Network ". The personal mail box, so necessary for exchange of experience and techniques of work with related foreign organizations, was opened as well. Specially for invalid children, we organized an additional training session at the Central Public Access Point facility. One of the radio programs was devoted to this school's activities with the purpose of attracting public attention to such socially - significant problem as social adaptation of disabled children.
  • The project officers carried out a meeting with Uhin Vladimir - the executive director of the Population Social Protection Foundation  at Voronezh city administration. The plans of joint activities within the framework of the project were discussed.
  • In June we completed organizational works for the Municipal philosophy club concerning publication of an interactive phylosophical -publicistic magazine "Globus".
  • As a result of the meeting with the rector of Voronezh baptist seminary doctor Shennon, the agreement was reached on granting the information for the publication on the civic network.
  • In accordance with librarians' recommendations, the project officers organized the constant advisory service in business hours of the public access point, functioning at the Regional Juvenile Library. Now, the attendees of the Internet class at the Regional Juvenile Library can receive qualified consultations on work with informational resources of a network. In July it was planned to carry out a special training session for the librarians serving the Internet class.
  • The detailed announcement of interactive discussions on most significant and interesting problems of our city and region, a new direction in the project work, was published on the server "Voronezh Civic Network".
  • Project officers carried out a meeting in order to discuss obtained results and further plans.

Formation of the informational -technical infrastructure

  • The preparatory works for allocating and lining of the allocated channel to the office building of the Regional Foundation "Mass Media Defense Center", Central Black Soil Region of Russia, Voronezh were completed. There we will arrange another public access point for the Black Soil Region mass media.
  • The following users were connected to the Central Public Access Point by allocated channels of communication:
    • Secondary school # 55
    • Voronezh Eletctrical technical school
  • Collecting and processing of materials for the server "Voronezh Civic Network" (http://vcn.vorstu.ac.ru) continued in June. Such sections as "Regional news", "Regional media publications", " News of public life", "The bulletin board" were updated daily. The new pages were placed in following sections "Public organizations ", " About the project". The new interactive section - "Invitation to conversation " was opened. Two personal pages were put together.


Central Public Access Center activities

  • As before, we spent a lot of our time and effort on the visitors of the Central Public Access Point. The complete spectrum of services offered to the community within the framework of the project was available free-of-charge for the civic networkers.
  • The additional training session for a group, consisting of 10 children, from Regional Juvenile School of Adaptive Special Physical Education of the Invalids was organized.
  • Two group training sessions, each consisting of 32 persons were also scheduled and held in June.
  • In accordance with the our visitor's recommendations, the project officers put together an instruction manual on how to work with browsers, and methodological recommendations on information search in Internet, its storage and processing. Instruction manuals are distributed to the trainees. Use of manuals improved training sessions very much by helping to address all trainees needs more effectively.
