Monthly Reports

"Voronezh Civic Network "
November, 2000
Organizational Activities
  • At the working meeting of the project officers and coordinators the decision has been made to start a new subsection "Project Log" (Section "About the Project"). This subsection covers our every day work within the framework of the project. The introduction of the project log appeared to be a very useful initiate as it helps to enhance planning and regulation of activities and will allow for further analysis of and accomplishments and failures.
  • Voronezh Civnet continued to work with the editorial office of Voronezh State Television and Radio company. In November, the project officers made two more radio programs providing coverage of activities under the project. Our radio programs assisted association of NGOs "Sodruzhestvo" in their action of collecting clothing and toys for the invalid children from the Regional Home for Invalid Children. We also provided informational support for the staff of the school library of the village "Podgornoe" who were campaigning to collect books for the library.
  • Voronezh Civnet held negotiations and signed an agreement on cooperation with the Municipal Institution "Support of Youth and Adolescents". This organization will house another one of the Civnet's Internet Public Access Points in Voronezh.
  • The correspondence between the Civnet users in Voronezh and citizens of Israel, initiated by the Civnet, became very active. The interactive web page that has this correspondence attracts a lot of attention.
  • A meeting was held with the manager on development of the publishing house "Computerra-Region". The areas of mutual interests were discussed and directions of future cooperation were established.

  • We prepared and published a material about the regional writer association "Warrior Union".
  • We prepared and published the material on Voronezh National Park as aprt of the section "Welcome to Voronezh".
  • We introduced two more personal pages featuring Voronezh poetry writer Emilia Chumicheva and bard Sergei Grebennikov.

Operation of the Main Public Access Point Facility
  • This month we welcomed our visitors as warmly as we did before. We gave telephone consultations and provided our help to customers where necessary. All services within the frameworks of the project were provided to customers free of charge. This month the consulting service and web-workshop continued to work.
  • We announced a contest for the best computer graphics work within the school students of 7-11 grades who are attending our courses "Foundations of Vectoral Graphics" and "Foundations of Raster Graphics". The best works will be published on the Civnet's web site.
