Sergiev Posad Civic Networking
January-February, 2000
We want to mention about several interesting events and meetings that
took place during the period of January-February, 2000
1.In January one more point of public access was opened in Center
for Youth Initiatives (CYI) that is situated in Bogorodskoye village.
The Foundation for Social Programs provided CYI with 2 computers, monitors,
modem "Courier", telephone number 7-25-65.
CYI is the place of youth meetings, Internet-club. This center has
an official registration and own seal. Bogorodskoye village is situated
in 30 km from Sergiev Posad city and it is famous because of art carving
factory, well known all over the world.
2. In February there was signed an agreement with "Etalon bank" related
to the civic networking development.
3. In February Town-Planning Committee of Moscow Region adopted the
conception of cultural, historical and ethnographical center "Craftsmen
City".
4. In February in London there was held a meeting of initiative group
members of international charitable organization "E-Initiative". Victor
Nemov took part in the meeting concerning social programs in Sergiev Posad.
Among the discussed questions there were:
-
the chance for Foundation for Social Programs to become Internet provider
with channel capacity of 128 Kbit;
-
the opportunity to purchase 10 computers for Public Access Points;
-
the creation of total web-site with information about traditional Russian
culture;
-
the joint activity with Ministry of Communications in the framework of
realization of pilot program concerning the use of "Transtelecom" fiber
optic net.
