Obninsk Civic Networking
March, 2000

1. In the framework of the OCN it was announced that any citizen of Obninsk and any not-for-profit organization could get free E-mail address.
2. A team of volunteers has been formed for free-of-charge creation of Internet pages in the framework of OCN (http: // picart.okclub.org).
3. An electronic version of Obninsk Institute of Nuclear Power Engineering student's and teacher's newspaper by name "@tomokhod" (www.atomohod.obninsk.ru) has been created. The page is updated weekly. A new electronic issue is placed a day before a printed version is ready.
4. A new Internet a resource is developed. It is devoted to KVN (it is a Russian abbreviation of Cheery and Smart People Club) movement development in Obninsk (www.kvn.obninsk.ru). The official presentation of this page is to be held in April 2000.
5. The site of Obninsk Community Foundation is developed and prepared to exploitation. The official presentation (opening ceremony) of the site is expected by the end of April, 2000.
6. The development of a site for not-for-profit partnership "Community" is under way and should be over soon. The site will be accessible to users in May, 2000.
7. Students of the "Leadership - Obninsk" program (executor - the organization by name "Community") are acquainted with OCN opportunities for higher effectiveness of local self-management and greater openness of local budget process. The number of student is about 35 persons. Among them there are heads of local not-for-profit sector. Since February, 7 , seminars were held in the framework of "Leadership - Obninsk" program. They were devoted to issues of municipal self-management and budget process.
8. A program of seminars devoted to OCN has been developed for local municipal officials. The seminars allows us:

  • To inform high-rank City officials about OCN, to guide them how to use OCN to increase the efficiency of their work;
  • During seminars the direction of the OCN development will be corrected due to the process of dialog between the Consortium representatives and municipal officials. The correction will allow us to update the OCN to be more convenient for municipal officials.
9. A program of seminars about OCN has been developed for nonprofit organizations. The members of these organizations:
  • Will be trained to work in Internet and OCN,
  • Will be oriented to the development of information resources to be placed at OCN server.
