Obninsk Civic Network

May 2001


  1. On May 15 Citizens� initiative group, Education Board, and Obninsk Citizens' Committee of Issues of Self-Governance carried out Constituent Conference of a new not-for-profit organization �City Parents Committee�. The appeal of the organizing committee is in Supplement (in Russian).
  2. In March � April 2001 6 organizations � OCN members (OK_Club, �Community�, Obninsk City Fund of Scientific-Technical, Innovative, and creative Activity of Russian Youth, Obninsk Union of Entrepreneurs, �Our Children� push forward an initiative to establish an association �Network of Active Organizations�. The goal of the network is to promote consolidation of local resources to solve local problems. In May the initiators started organizational process their integration into a consortium � development of management system, Codex, and Agreement.
  3. The structure of the �Network of Active Organizations� WEB portal is under development.
  4. Started the development of WEB site for new not-for-profit organization �Obninsk Volunteers for international Partnership�. The site will be in the OCN since the beginning of July.
  5. On May 16 a OK_Club hosted a meeting of OCN participants � listeners of Leadership Obninsk program 2000 with the representatives of Pittsburgh University and the Institute for Urban Economics (Moscow)..
  6. On May 17 �Network of Active Organizations� carried a press conference. During the event the media got also information about OCN activity.
