Chelyabinsk Civic Networking
January -February, 2000
During January - February there were held several interesting meetings.
The first one was with Tatyana Popova, "Volunteers of Hospice" leader ;
the second one was held with Ayrat Badriev, project coordinator of creating
Center of Tatar Culture in Chelyabinsk. The discussed questions concerned
the launching of web sites of these organizations and Internet skill training
for their staff.
Marina Moiseeva, a research worker of Distance Education Laboratory
(Moscow Institute of General Secondary Education ) has visited networking
center in SUSU. We discussed the creation of on-line version course for
educators � developers of new learning materials in Internet and about
the Internet.
1. Information system for local community continues its developing.
Two new mailing lists were opened:

For NGO in Chelyabinsk and Chelyabinsk region the subscription is realized

During the work with this list there were refreshed the contacts with
many organizations and initiative groups of people. At present moment the
list has 15 subscribers, such organizations as "Pravosoznanie", "Unity
and Law", "Memorial", "Women of the 90-th", "Movement for Nuclear Safety",
"Agency of Information Cooperation", "Techa", "Association of Social Societies",
"Woman Network in Ural Region", Center of Social Partneship", etc.
More than 20 messages about fund raising, actions and events were sent
during the period of January- February. There was held also on-line conversation
about training individuals who wants to maintain web pages of the NGO.

The list serves sharing information about projects and grants concerning
to education and scientific research.
2. E-mail access was opened for organization of parents of kids
with disabilities "Our children".
3. CCN center staff in cooperation with Project Harmony carried out
several consultations for preparing and submitting proposals for mini grant
competition. About 20 proposals were applied from Chelyabinsk.

During the period of January and February there were held three lessons
with disabiled children (center "Childhood"). The theme was "Creating of
web site with translation in English".
In center "Internet for everyone" there was held a set of lectures and
practical works for teachers of schools and high education institutions
from Chelyabinsk and Chelyabinsk region. The subjects are: "Internet technologies
in education", "Method of projects. Telecommunication educational projects".
A total amount of trained people is 68 individuals, the amount of expanded
time is equal to 86 hours.
Two times a week, beginning since March 15, we are carrying out training
NGO staff. The main tasks for the group are following: getting basic skills
of work with e-mail, mailing lists and networking resources for noncommercial
organizations well as experience in creating web pages.
