| Mya VKA-23 proposal |
First spaceplane design in Soviet Union, by Myasishchyev in 1957. Faceted, trapezoidal wing, single crew. Considered as alternate to Vostok as first manned spacecraft, but simplicity of ballistic approach and necessity of using common spacecraft design for manned flights and unmanned photo-reconnaisance flights led to selection of Vostok design. Design further elaborated in VKA-23 competition (1958-1960).
