CCSI promotes the growth of civil and democratic societies by publishing resources and materials that foster relationships and the sharing of experiences between leaders of private voluntary associations in the U.S. and Eastern Europe and the NIS. It publishes a monthly newsletter, Civil Society . . . East and West, which reports on new projects, organizations, resources and announcements with relation to third sector activities in the NIS. It also makes this information available at no charge electronically to users of the World Wide Web and those with e-mail, by offering an electronic mailing list known as CivilSoc. (See the section on Electronic Resources -- NGO Development for our Electronic Mailing List.)

CCSI has published Internet Resources for the NIS, and Civil Society: USA, which describes in detail the operations of more than 150 diverse American third sector organizations. This resource was expanded, translated, and published in Poland in 1996. For information about these publications, visit the publications page or contact CCSI.

CCSI also maintains a database of some 2,000 American third sector organizations with experience and expertise relevant to the transition challenges in the NIS. Learn more about CCSI on the "About CCSI" section of our website.
