Innovation and Development Centre
The Innovation and Development Center is announcing its new publication, a bi-monthly magazine PEREHRESTIA/Crossroads. This magazine has been created to stimulate the exchange of information, ideas, and to encourage cooperation among Ukrainian non-profit organizations, charitable foundations, businesses engaging in philanthropy, and governmental representatives. Recently the first issue of Crossroads was published. It is 56 pages in length and covers such topics as:The publication is in Ukrainian.
- Parliamentarian views of philanthropy in Ukraine.
- Reports from a roundtable discussion conducted jointly by the IDC and the International Center for Non-Profit Law.
- Why government should be interested in developing civic organization.
- Analytical review based on the IDC's database of the size and status of civic organizations in Ukraine.
- Suggested guidelines for registering charitable foundations in Ukraine.
- Training materials on such topics as NGO and local government communication techniques, creating a positive image of NGOs and local government.
- Report concerning local NGO experiences fundraising from the business sector.
- Special reports regarding what Ukrainian NGOs can learn from the French and American NGO Sectors.
- Technical assistance and support programs available for Ukrainian NGOs, including Eurasia Foundation, TACIS, Freedom House, Counterpart Alliance, Peace Corps.
- Useful contact information for Ukrainian NGOs (who offers training seminars, publications, conferences, grants, etc.)
- Detailed analysis of accounting procedures for nonprofit operations in Ukraine.
- Forum for successful NGO projects and sponsorship opportunities.
The magazine was established as part of a project of the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiatives affiliated with Open Society Institute. Preparation and publication of the magazine was made possible by the generous support of the Ch.S.Mott Foundation and Eurasia Foundation.
To receive the third issue, as well as previous ones, the IDC requests organizations and individuals to send postal stamps which will cover mailing costs of the materials (Four Hryvnia per each copy of the magazine).
The IDC would appreciate any donations, which will be used to support additional publications dedicated to Ukrainian NGOs, and helping them in the areas of management, strategic planning, sponsor involvement, communication, fund raising etc.
