ISAR
ISAR: Initiative for Social Action and Renewal in Eurasia, a US-based NGO with over fifteen years of experience encouraging citizen initiative in the former Soviet Union, is pleased to announce the Spring issue of its quarterly, Give & Take: A Journal on Civil Society in Eurasia. Give & Take draws on ISAR's grassroots contacts throughout the former Soviet Union and blends articles detailing the work of NGOs with analysis of trends affecting the Third Sector. The Spring issue of Give & Take focuses on NGO image in the countries of the former Soviet Union, examining how nonprofits are perceived by the public, government officials and the media. Post-Soviet and US authors investigate trends in public attitudes towards NGOs, nonprofit efforts to rally community support, and the struggles of groups confronting sensitive issues such as military reform or homelessness. Articles also explore the effects of Western assistance policies on the NGO movement and show the importance of community involvement in NGO work.
