The Guide to Foreign Affairs Research Organizations in Russia was produced by IREX and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and lists 87 different organizations. The Guide "is intended to serve as a tool for all institutions and individuals attempting to establish contacts with partners in Russia." In selecting organizations for the Guide, the authors did not restrict themselves to organizations primarily focused on foreign affairs. They included some institutes whose primary fields of concern were differente.g., economics, ethnography, and nuclear physicsbut were deemed important or relevant to issues of international relations. Thus the Guide profiles not only the Center for Strategic and Global Studies, but also the Institute of Economic Transition (founded by Egor Gaidar, a former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation); the Public Opinion Foundation; and the International Charitable Foundation for Political and Legal Research (Interlegal).

All the information in the Guide is available electronically at IREX's Gopher site (info.irex.org). Carnegie and IREX also plan to publish expanded and updated versions of the Guide in the future and they encourage users of this Guide to submit updates and information for future editions. April, 1995. 85 pp.
