Since 1990, Pen Pal Planet has helped form friendships among approximately 25,000 Americans and Russians. We consider each pen pal individually -- we don't just hand out lists of names and call each name on the list a "match."
Technically we are a for-profit business, but no profit is taken. We work with the cooperation of the journal Studencheskiy Meridian (Student Meridian), in Moscow, which is generally for youths in their upper teen years, as well as young adults.
All of our pen pals communicate by "regular" mail. Fortunately, 1995 saw marked improvements in mail-delivery times between our two countries, and very few letters are now being lost.
