Amnesty International began working in Drohobych in 1991 and was founded by Myroslav Marynovych, a former Ukrainian prisoner of conscience. UAAI consists of 28 groups across Ukraine who collectively work for the release of political prisoners and those imprisoned as a result of ethnic, racial, or religious prejudices. UAAI advocates fair trials for all prisoners and an end to the death penalty and all forms of torture.
