The League of Professional Women was established in August 1997 to unite junior and mid-level career women who work in Kyiv, and who:
- -received advanced education: MA, MBA, and/or Ph.D.;
-are successful professionals in their field; and
-are professionally and socially active personalities.In April 1998 the LPW organized the Consulting Group, which unites male and female Senior and Top-level professionals in Kyiv in the fields of business, education and science, mass media and public administration.
The primary activities of LPW include:
- Analysis of opportunities for women in the Kyiv job market.
- Preparing, conducting and participating with other organiza- tions in training seminars and workshops in such topics as Leadership, Career Development, etc.
- Collection and analysis of information (fellowships, intern- ships, scholarships, etc.) supporting an international project to enhance the qualifications of women. (Fellowships, Intern- ships, Scholarships, etc.)
- Organization of political lobbying and the promotion of laws which contribute to the improvement of circumstances for women in Ukraine.
- Highlighting in mass-media, science and research papers, educational programs (1) the ideas of equal opportunities in career development irrespective of sex; (2) the activities of other international organizations with similar interests and objectives; and (3) the work of woman professionals in other countries.
The LPW would be pleased to hear from other organizations which share our interests and goals.
