International Management Institute (IMI)–Kyiv was established in 1989 as a joint venture between the Institute of Economics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and the IMI of Geneva with the mission to educate professional managers as leaders of Ukraine's progression towards a prosperous globalized economy. IMI's core actvities include MBA Programs, Executive Education Programs, Consulting Services, a Ph.D. in Business Administration Programs and research projects. It was the first such institute in the Soviet Union to offer a one-year MBA program based on a Western European model. By early 1995 IMI–Kyiv had graduated six classes and more than 300 MBAs.The IMI uses their computer center as a tool in business research and preparing students for continued professional success. Students have access to the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW). Using the Internet is greatly encouraged and classes are designed stressing the global impacts of information technology.
