The British Council, a registered British charity, is the United Kingdom's international network for education, culture and development services. The council was one of the first international agencies to establish itself in independent Ukraine in 1992. It now has an office, information center, and English Language Teaching resource center in Kyiv and centers in Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa and Donetsk. These centers are "one-stop shops" for information from and about Britain. They also offer access to the Internet.

The British Council is responding to the huge demand for English language learning in Ukraine by�among other things:

It plans to open an English Teaching Center in Kyiv, which will offer courses taught by professional and experienced native-speaker teachers of English.
