Wings Association for the Defense of Sexual Minorities

When it registered in 1991 after much legal opposition, Wings became the first officially registered gay and lesbian organization in Russia. The group works to eradicate homophobia and promote tolerance by educating the populace about sexual minorities. It also designs social support programs and organizes cultural events for the homosexual community.
