Novyi Arbat 11, k. 1728-1735
The Volunteer Center was created in 1991 with the goal of educating post-Soviet Russian society about the need for volunteers in a healthy civil society and the rewards of volunteerism. In December 1995, the group organized the Week of Volunteer Action and Moscow Volunteer Forum—the first such events to be held in Russia. The forum brought together more than 300 leaders from volunteer organizations to discuss strategies for further development of volunteerism and collaborative projects.Since 1996, the center has been working to develop ties with Moscow's commercial sector and the local press to promote their activities. The Moscow Charity House works closely with the U.S.-based Points of Light Foundation.
