Novinskoye/Interunity

Novinskoye/Interunity was set up in 1989 as a Russian-British-Panamian commercial joint venture. In 1990 it established a charitable program which includes the production of new and repair of second-hand wheelchairs and other equipment for disabled people. The majority of equipment is donated by foreign charitable organizations and individuals, but these deliveries are not regular, and Novinskoye is looking for a reliable and long-term partnership to expand its activities throughout Central Russia.

The wheelchairs are distributed to the disabled free of charge. Novinskoye also fixes, distributes and maintains other equipment and devices for disabled. Since 1990 the organization has produced and distributed 800 wheel-chairs (580 of them in 1993 alone).

Novinskoye has also developed a program to provide emergency medical treatment abroad for Russian children. Novinskoye can provide initial expenses, but it wants to find a foreign partner that can assist in promoting the program and pay for the children's medical treatments. Novinskoye will pay transportation costs. The organization has developed a preliminary agreement with a German NGO for this program, and is interested in cooperation with other international organizations.
