The association is composed of more than 5,000 practicing lawyers and law students from regions across the Russian Federation. Formed in 1992 by a group of law students, professors, and young lawyers, the association works to uphold the principle of rule-of-law and develop a "legal consciousness" in the new generation of young Russians.The group is currently collaborating with the Rule of Law Institute in Washington, D.C., to operate an electronic discussion list focusing on the topic of Russian law and legal reform.
