Established in 1991, the Forum has conducted workshops on women's roles in politics, business, the mass media, etc. It now serves as an umbrella or-ganization for more than 200 women's organizations throughout Russia. The Forum also operates an Information Center. With funding from local resources and a grant from the Ford Foundation, it has developed the Education and Vocational Training for Empowerment project to help women gain professional skills; the Mass Media Against Discrimination project, featuring a quarterly newsletter and development of a network of journalists against discrimination at national and local levels; and the Women and the Arts project, aimed at promoting women's participation in the arts.
