The institute conducts research in applied economics, addressing such topics as the challenges of transition to a market economy for Russian enterprises and regional social and economic development. It has made policy recommendations to the Ministry of Economy and Central Bank, and has received financial support from the Ford Foundation, Eurasia Foundation, and TACIS.
