Moscow Coordinating Center
The Civic Initiatives Program is a consortium of organizations that provides coordinated support in areas critical to the strengthening of a sustainable non-profit/non-governmental sector (NGO) in Russia. The program began late 1994 and will continue until fall 1998 with the purpose of promoting an environment that fosters a functioning and effective NGO sector and facilitates mutually beneficial relationships with business and government. The Civic Initiatives Program was created specifically in response to needs articulated by NGOs: providing legal, operational and social marketing expertise to provide solutions to obstacles NGOs encounter. The Civic Initiatives Program focuses its resources in two ways: geographically and by type of NGO. The program works specifically with organizations that encourage economic or democratic reforms in Central and Southern Russia, Siberia and Moscow.
CIP has developed a well-stocked NGO Resource Center where more than 200 peices of literature and reference materials, plus a database of Russian NGOs are available to anybody who visits the Center.
