CENEf is a nonprofit, independent Russian-American organization founded in 1992 by a consortium of U.S. and Russian organizations to promote energy efficiency and environmental protection in Russia. The center's main objectives are:
- Developing legislation and policy proposals to implement more efficient use of energy resources in Russia
- Initiating energy-efficiency projects
- Developing potential opportunities for cooperation between Russian and foreign companies using energy- efficient equipment or production procedures
CENEf publishes two newsletters: The Energy Efficiency Bulletin (available in Russian and English), which contains news on energy policy and projects throughout Russia, and The Russian Energy Picture (in English only), which provides data on Russian energy consumption and other energy-related statistics, including prices and macroeconomic indicators.
