FADR was formed in1993 in conjunction with the U.S.-based Rodale Institute in response to growing concerns over the fate of Russia's agricultural sector. The primary objective of FADR is to promote efficient and sustainable land use systems in Russia by establishing networks for information exchange among groups and individuals within Russia, implementing environmental education programs, and helping people adapt to new forms of land use.
