The independent non-profit ecological organization "Istok" was founded by the Chaikovsky Town Fund for Support of Civil Initiatives "For Democracy."

The purpose of the organization is preservation of living nature, research of flora and fauna, development of a humane attitude to animals in society, and suppression of attempts at destruction and damage of the nature. We are looking forward to enhancing international cooperation in the field of the protection of nature

The organization, during its existence, has executed a series of projects and programs adequate to the purpose of its activity. In particular, we have conducted a volunteer project "Clean city"; 74 volunteers have participated in it.

The workers of our organization have participated repeatedly, together with state authorities, in operations directed against inhumane methods used in fisheries. The organization also conducted research on influencing the purity of water by decaying logs at the river bottom Kama, but due to lack of sufficient funds the research was not completed.

Our organization often publishes mass media materials dedicated to the protection of nature. Presently the organizational staff consists of 4 employees.
