Civic Initiatives Support Foundation was established on July 3, 1996 with the goals of providing moral and financial support for socially significant civic initiatives in the Kirov oblast. The main goal of the organization is to develop institutions of civil society and to support teaching and educational activities. Members of the organization have recently begun developing materials about local self-government as well as cooperation between government agencies, political parties and NGOs. The Foundation's plans include sociological research into the adaptation of the population of Kirov oblast to life under market economy conditions and the development of projects dedicated to reviving the cultural traditions of the Vyatskii Krai. Sociologists, political scientists, professors and graduate students have partcipated in the organization's activities.
