CEI runs an active environmental education center in Novosibirsk. It received a computer from Sacred Earth Network in early 1995 and distributed the first edition of the Center's bulletin two months afterwards. CEI also maintains a Youth Social Center for Ecological Initiatives as a place for students to go after school to take part in a range of environmentally oriented programs. The center has published a local youth newspaper, run environmental monitoring expeditions, and put together a small "eco-museum" on the premises. The first edition of the center's bulletin had an article discussing environmental conditions in Novosibirsk and "ecological folk tales" written by children at the Center. In 1995, CEI published its first edition of an electronic environmental newspaper for children, Footsteps on the Path.
