Open Information Society

Open Information Society (OIS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered by the Ministry of Justice of Moldova in 1996. The organization consists of 17 active and 32 associative members, whose ages range from 14 to 68 and whose educational background is from the secondary school to an "Academic" degree. OIS members by their specialty represent the following fields: Physics, Science, Programming, Information Technologies, Electronics, Economics, Journalism, Justice and Law, and Aviation.

• Program "Internet and Business"
  • Project: "Establishing and maintaining of the permanent heading "Internet and Business"" (only in Russian) in the weekly newspaper "Kommersant Moldovy" (Eurasia foundation grant, 1997-1998).
  • Project: "Internet Technologies in Marketing" (on base of the Internet magazine "Eva", 1999, the project runs by now without a sponsor's support.
  • Project: "Remote education via Internet on base of the Association Global View technology" (1998-1999, in partnership with Association Global View, Chico, California (USA) and Civilized Society Institute (Kishinev, Moldova), the project runs by now without a sponsor's support).
• Program: "Communications' Development for the NGO"
  • Project: "Coordination of the program Communications' Development for the NGO" (Eurasia foundation grant, 1997-1998, partners: # 2, 3, 4).
• Program: "Civil Society" Participation in the first NGO forum and preparation of the materials for the section "Civil Society" (1997, without a sponsor's support).

  • Project: "Analytical center Science & Development" (1997-1999, the project runs by now without a sponsor's support).
  • Project: "Fundraising in Science" (1997 - 1999, the project runs by now without a sponsor's support).
  • Project: "Creation and maintaining of the scientific department's corporate net with the Internet access" (1997-1999, in partnership with the SDB of the Academy of Science of Moldova, the project runs by now without a sponsor's support).
  • Project: "History of Physical Science in Moldova" (1997-1998, in partnership with the departments of the institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Science of Moldova, without a sponsor's support).

The results of activity

• Project has been completed: "Establishing and maintaining of the permanent heading "Internet and Business"" (only in Russian) in the weekly newspaper "Kommersant Moldovy". The materials were also placed on OIS server: http://sdb-ois.asm.md/business/internet.htm.
• Since 1998 the Internet magazine "Eva" (http://sdb-ois.asm.md/Eva/) is maintained on regular base. As a result of implementation of the electronic marketing technologies, "Eva" magazine had stable 12 position in the mass media rating, according to catalog "All Stars of Russian Internet" (www.stars.ru). Since July 1999, "Eva" had been having 3 position in the section "For Women and About Women" (www.stars.ru/stat/hobby:family:women1.htm).
• In accordance with the agreement with the Association Global View (California, USA), OIS has organized remote educational courses "Introduction to Business" and "Advanced Business Simulation". 9 people (7 of OIS members) completed first course and got certificates AGV "Level one of the Small Business Management". 5 of OIS members completed second educational course and passed the qualification exam.
• "Communications' Development for the NGO" Program was completed in autumn 1998. As a result, a few Info-consulting centers were created in various regions throughout Moldova: in Tiraspol (on base of "World Window"), in Edinets (on base of "Bluebird"), and in Cricova (on base of "TIT"). The equipment obtained for this project (after completing of it) was used for creation of the joint server with the SDB (http://sdb-ois.asm.md/).
• Project: "Fundraising in Science": Member of OIS, Mrs. Valentina Sinavchian has won a grant issued by Civilian Research & Development Foundation for participation in the "Training Programm in Technology Development and Marketing", held place in Armenia on March-April 1999.
