On November 22, 1995 the Parliament of Moldova adopted a Law on Public Associations in its first reading. The project was prepared by an NGO, Ecological Society "Biotica," with USAID support through the Eurasia Foundation, Kyiv Regional Office.
Taking into account its great significance for the development of the third sector in Moldova, the law was was first discussed during three seminars for NGOs, organized by Biotica, COUNTERPART Foundation for International Partnerships, International Foundation for Electoral Systems and Moldova-Florida Center.
The American Bar Association also participated in the Law Project. The adoption of the law is apparently not final. The authors hope to make some alterations in the course of a second reading, which will improve the Law and make it more useful for NGOs functioning in Moldova.
