The "Tree of Life" Human Development Center was established in 1996 and describes its main objective as "a new paradigm of human development...living in harmony with the environment." The center carries out projects in various spheres, including women's rights, democratic development, environmental protection, education, and unemployment. It works with rural women, farmers, refugees, the unemployed, and students.
Tree of Life has conducted a number of projects including:
- A training program for framers on how to prevent brucellosis.
- With support from Mercy Corps International, providing wheel chairs to disabled people.
- An evaluation and educational program on reproductive health for rural women.
- Publishing a book on functional literacy in Russian and Kyrgyz.
- A project on sexual awareness for children.
Tree of Life's future plans include establishing a "Survival School" to help end poverty and unemployment for women.
