The Lingua Center has two objectives:
- 1.) to encourage the development of multiculturalism in Kyrgyzstan by teaching the languages and cultural traditions of "small Turkic groups;
" 2.) to provide aid to veterans, the unemployed, and the poor.
The Center holds courses in Uighur language and culture, computer training classes for unemployed youth, and plans to hold a seminar on "Tolerance of Ethnic Minorities" in 1998.
A print version of much of the information contained in this Central Asian Third Sector Organizations section can be found in Civil Society in Central Asia (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1999).
