InterBilim is an independent organization that supports the NGO community in Kyrgyzstan by providing information, training and services particularly to those organizations working in areas of poverty alleviation, health, environment, human rights, and education. Interbilim publishes a newsletter of the same name to inform NGOs of training opportunities and events of interest. The newsletter contains articles about NGOs in Kyrgyzstan and other countries, and articles for NGOs to use as reference materials. The newsletter is published in Kyrgyz, Russian, and English.
Currently, InterBilim is developing a database of indigenous NGOs and expanding the organization's "communications division." The communications division of InterBilim will provide support for NGOs through access to information and organizations by e-mail, and eventually the Internet. Computer training, including word processing and spreadsheets, will give NGOs the ability to write proposals, develop documents and manage their accounts. Currently the organization has a small lab with four computers that is providing some immediate training and e-mail access capability.
A print version of much of the information contained in this Central Asian Third Sector Organizations section can be found in Civil Society in Central Asia (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1999).
