This informal collection of activists went through a difficult period in 1994. It now has new leadership and a “stronger commitment to nonpartisan-ship in its activities.” It was involved together with other organizations in a hunger strike in September 1995 challenging efforts to amend provisions in the Kyrgyzstan constitution calling for periodic elections.
