Foundation for Information Assistance to Social and Economic Development of Kyrgyzstan

The Foundation was registered on 2 April, 1999 but in fact, it has been working since March 1999.

The Foundation was established with the purpose to accelerate the economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic by means of improvement of an investment climate and increase an efficiency of financial, technical and other assistance projects carried out by international organizations. The main task of the Foundation is to organize and implement a process of fair and all-round informing of the world community about economic, social and other areas of life in Kyrgyzstan using modern information technologies.

At present the Foundation issues weekly digests of the republican mass media in English and Russian (64 weekly digests based on the materials of 25 publications as well as 2 subject-matter supplements have been issued by June 2000).

Among our present subscribers are: USAID, the OSCE mission, NDI, Japan Center, French Consulate, GTZ and other international organizations; a number of banks, mass media, commercial and state structures of Kyrgyzstan. The Foundation also has some subscribers outside Kyrgyzstan (including Germany, USA and Japan).

Project applicants include a number of qualified specialists who have knowledge and experience in sociology and social psychology, social and economic programming, finance and credits, investment activity and securities, attraction of the foreign investment and introduction of modern information technologies. The work experience of the specialists encloses different regions: Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The main finance sources of the Foundation are the incomes received from the digest subscription in English and Russian. These incomes will cover current expenditures and wages of the employees.

From the very beginning the Foundation has been working on a self-financed basis and has never had working experience with donors.
