The Shapagat Society was formed in 1996 by a group of mothers concerned about the future of their disabled children in the face of weakened social welfare structures and lack of government assistance. Shapagat provides medical assistance to needy families, specialized day care for disabled children, and helps mothers of disabled children to find employment. Other activities include:
