CCM works to reduce social and ethnic conflict in Kazakstan and to promote transition to a free market economy and democratic civil society. It conducts research and organizes seminars on conflict prevention and management. Among the Center's recent initiatives are:
- Joint Kazak-American Peacebuilding Workshop for school teachers and university professors in Almaty, September 1995;
- Lectures on conflict resolution theory at the Kazakstan State University and the Institute for Advanced Humanitarian Studies, 1995/96 and 1996/97 academic years;
- Organization of debate training for students at Kazakstan State Univeristy (in cooperation with the Soros Foundation), April 1997;
- Publication of a human rights textbook in Kazak for school children, containing the full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, August 1997.
