The association serves the interests of writers, painters, composers, directors, playwrights, scientists, inventors, and other representatives of the cultural sphere. In September 1996, it prepared a draft law on the rights of professional artists and writers concerning trademark and copyright practices. In autumn 1997, it worked with the government on a proposal "for the spiritual development of Kazakstan" through support of the cultural sphere.
