International Centre for Civic Culture, Tbilisi, Georgia

International Centre for Civic Culture (ICCC) is a non-governmental organization founded in September 1996 to support the development of civil society and the democratic political process in Georgia.

One of its main activities has been in the field of electoral rights. In October 1997 ICCC, with the support of the Fridrich Ebert Foundation, organized a conference on the "Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights of Citizens." In December it received a grant from the Open Society Georgia Foundation to organize training programs for party monitors at local government elections, scheduled to be held in Tbilisi in October 1998.

Previous elections in Georgia have seen extensive violations of election laws. By monitoring the upcoming elections in Tbilisi, ICCC hopes to gather sufficient evidence of election tampering to file successful lawsuits and thus to help set legal precedents for electoral reforms.

ICCC is seeking financial support for this project.
