The Independent Society "Human Rights in Georgia" was established on December 10, 1996 as a not-for-profit NGO in Tbilisi, Georgia. It was registered by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia on December 26, 1996.

The basic goals of the society are to:

In our forthcoming activities we lay special emphasis on the establishment and the advancement of human rights teaching at primary and secondary school level, promotion of human rights education in the country.

We aim to facilitate the development of extensive sources of information such as running of human rights reference library and documentation center, as well as human rights consultation systems by ensuring free access to extensive data on human rights for each individual thus increasing public awareness on human rights.
